Uffizi Gallery Wheelchair Access

In short

The Uffizi Gallery is fully wheelchair accessible with a dedicated step-free entrance at Door 3, three lifts serving all gallery floors, and free entry for visitors with a disability and one companion. Pre-book your timed slot on the official Uffizi website.

Of the major Italian art museums, the Uffizi is the easiest to visit in a wheelchair. The accessibility infrastructure is mature, staff are trained, and the route through the collection has been designed to avoid every step.

Which door to use

Door 3 (Ingresso n. 3) is the dedicated accessible entrance, on the right side of the Piazzale degli Uffizi. Show your booking confirmation and disability documentation — security and ticket pickup happen at the same desk.

Lifts and route

Three lifts cover all floors of the gallery. The accessible route covers the entire main collection: Botticelli's Birth of Venus, Leonardo's Annunciation, Caravaggio rooms, the Tribune. The Vasari Corridor (the elevated walkway to Pitti Palace) is not fully accessible.

Free admission

Visitors with a disability and one companion enter free. Book the free 'visitor with disability' ticket on the official Uffizi website (uffizi.it) — it requires a separate booking from the standard ticket flow. You may be asked to show disability documentation at Door 3.

Wheelchair loan and accessible toilet

Loan wheelchairs are available at the entrance (free, deposit required). Accessible toilets are on the first floor near the central staircase and on the second floor near the Caravaggio rooms.

Combined ticket with Pitti Palace

If you also want to visit Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens, book the Uffizi+Pitti+Boboli accessible combined ticket. Pitti is fully accessible; Boboli has a mostly accessible main path but some upper terraces involve gravel and slopes.
